Beautiful work Tomas  The head plate is awesome! Love the maple and the KTM9 Looks great! I even love the wall you took the picture infront of. Good luck at the festival.

Thanks guys. It is exciting to get past the constant disater stage and finally start porducing something to cover my expenses. How did you guys begin selling guitars?? |

I haven't sold any. I just build for family and friends. Sometimes they give me cost. I would like to start selling next year. I'm thinking the best way to start out is probably festivals and other music/guitar gatherings. I'm interested on how you do with yours. |

I'll let you know. I also signed up for a musicians camp with Rob Ikes, a great reso player. I will spend a week with about 10 other Reso players. I plan on taking a batch of four to six guitars to try and sell. I figure at least I'll get some really good feedback on my work and who knows maybe sell a guitar or two. If I sell the whole batch I'll probably go on vacation or go buy tools or wood, but you know, spend it fast before my wife finds out 
I am taking a sabatical next year ( I teach high school science) so for the next 15 months or so I am building full time, and juggling my twin 10 month old boys. |

Thanks, I have a bunch of boards of that maple, and one more koa top. I haven't strung it up yet, later today I will get to hear it and hope it sounds at least as good as it looks. |

Nice looking guitars, Tomas. Have a good time at the camp with Rob. I think the thing that most impressed me at the one I went to was that every day about 7 am I could hear him in his room practising the rolls and scales that he taught us. He really puts the work in. His new album "Three Ring Circle" is awesome. |

Thanks for the encouragement. I really need to get to the next level in finish and binding but I like the sound I'm getting and I enjoy the design process. Louisiana: As for Rob's workshop and records I have heard a little taste of that record Three Ring Circle and really like what I heard. One tune sounded like Django. Have you heard Blue Highways "Marbletown"??? Great songwriting and singing, but Rob really makes that whole record shine. Great arranging and the Reso plays the most prominant musical role. I highly recommend it. I hope that my guitars are well recieved and as I said at least get some feedback and comparison to the Sheerhorns guitars and what ever else people bring. By the way I was playing a Tut Taylor in the Guitar Center in SF the other day. It was real pretty and was priced at like 3 grand. I didn't like the sound as much as mine but the fit and finish were better. I am thinking of asking $2500??? What do you think? |
